Leachate, Organics, Digestate Treatment

MSW organics are the main source of emissions such as  highly contaminated  leachate, the greenhouse gas methane and odor. The residue of the biogas process - so-called digestate - has high COD and BOD levels and also needs to be treated before discharge.

SOLUTIONS

Leachate Membrane Bioreactor Technology (MBR)

Reduces COD and BOD to legal discharge levels by a combination of bacterial absorption and mechanical nano- or micro-filtering action. Often complete with a Reverse Osmosis Step (RO).

MSW Biodrying

Active aeration of organics or wet solids enhances aerobic bacteria metabolism digesting the organic material. Aeration and bacteria body heat evaporates moisture aka leachate.

MSW Active Thermal Drying

Evaporation of leachate in rotary kilns or driers using woodchip, waste heat or RDF as heat-source.

'Dry Fermentation' - Anaerobic Digestion for High Solid Materials

Some waste types like foodwaste, EFB or MSW organics have a high Biomethane Potential (BMP) - but suffer from high solids sedimentation effects in typical liquid, pumpable biogas systems.

Continuous plug flow systems with high solids tolerance have proven very reliable and effective in many commercial scale installations around the world.

Organic Waste BioDrying

Composting MSW Organics, Greenwaste, Biogas Digestate

Function: In contrast to indoor row composting or in vessel composting systems, plants using semi-permeable membrane cover don’t need (i) buildings, (ii) high cost compost turners+fossil fuel, (iii) airfiltering systems, (iv) large maturing areas and last but not least not 12 but only 6 weeks to mature material.  Waste composting plants static waste rows are arranged on an open platform and aerated from below by electric fans and blower pipes to mature material in 6 weeks, without ever moving the material. While odor stays inside, moisture evaporates through the fabric which can not be penetrated by rain.

Foodwaste Anaerobic Digestion - wet

Food Waste, Market Waste, Hospitality Waste

to Fermenter Infeed Material for Anaerobic Digestion

MSW Organics Dry Fermentation

MSW Organics, Foodwaste, Greenwaste

Function: convert high solids organic waste materials to biogas , power & heat. Continuous plug flow thermophilic system.
